eBay user kefkasdomain submitted to an incredibly rare music box from Final Fantasy 7 that he has up for auction (thanks for the link!). We’ve feature a few of these one VGA in the past. I don’t remember what the selling price was for them but I see the $4500 in my mind. Not sure if it went for more or less. Below is the exact description from the auction:

This is a Limited Edition Final Fantasy VII Music Box that plays Aeris’s Theme. I have been lucky enough to own two in my life time. One I sold last year, and this one which was displayed with my other collectibles in a secure cabinet free from dust, light, water and any other potential hazards to the box. It’s extremely mint, from the actual music box itself to the mechanism. I bought this new and it literally has less than 15 plays believe it or not. The mechanical part of the box is smooth and like new, it barely even had a chance to play. This specific music box is the lowest serial I’ve seen. It has been featured on several main websites and on the YouTube video that has over 250,000 views and counting. This is the holy grail of my collection and the value is only going to rise. It literally is the center piece in my collection and I have many more collectibles some might argue is worth more, but nothing is as rare as this or sought after.

According to ffmerchandise 1000 were made but there is no evidence behind that so I disagree with the facts. No serial number passing 100 has ever surfaced on the web. If you have a music box that surpasses the 100 please do send me a message. The theory behind the number of music boxes produced varies from collector to collector. Digicube went bankrupt during the production of these music boxes and they were’nt fully completed according to sources. It makes sense that they set out for 1000 copies but only settled for 100, and maybe 60 orders were really fulfilled. Regardless I have seen less than a handful on eBay, and collectors around the world will not part with theirs.

This is your chance to own the most sought after Final Fantasy collectible. It comes complete, even with it’s original certificate which I have not seen other Final Fantasy music boxes have. This auction includes an original Final Fantasy VII Aeris’s Music Box Serial #041 (1), the blue box it is held in (1) which has a light water stain on it but is in solid condition, the Sankyo instruction pamphlet(1), and the Digicube certificate. This will be packaged with extremely care and shipped with the highest standard in shipping. If you have any questions feel free to email me. This auction does not include the plastic display. Own a piece of history and be one of the lucky few to own the Final Fantasy 7 Music Box. No shipping to Mexico and South America. **PLEASE READ TERMS AND CONDITIONS**
