Hideo Kojima – Rare Games, Books, and Signed Items

At an early age, Hideo Kojima spent much of his time playing Nintendo games. It was from these experiences that he decided to become a game designer. This dream of his lead to the Metal Gear series. Nobody could have known back in the mid 80′s how brilliant this guy was. Today, Kojima is given so much respect and space that Konami pretty much lets him do whatever he wants and gives him as much time as he needs. Here is a list of items up on eBay that happen to chronicle Hideo Kojima’s rise to legend.

Snatcher Pilot Disk - This sample disc contains music from the game along with a demo. Playable on the PC-Engine. Snatcher was Hideo’s second game (the first being the original Metal Gear).

Snatcher (Sega CD) - Here’s a copy of Snatcher on the PAL Sega CD. It’s in perfect condition and is quite rare.

Snatcher (PSX) - This is a Japanese copy of Snatcher for the Playstation. Another must-have for any Kojima collector.

Policenauts (PSX) - Policenauts was the game that Hideo Kojima made a few years before Metal Gear Solid. If you watch closely while playing MGS, you will see a clip from Policenauts while Otacon explains why he made Metal Gear.

Metal Gear Solid “Naked” Book - The term “naked” in the title of this book doesn’t refer to nudity. Instead, it’s about being exposed and vulnerable. In this book, Hideo Kojima goes into detail about his passion for video games and his past. Note however that the book is japanese.

Hideo Kojima Movie Criticism Book - The title says it all! Here’s a book of Kojima’s views on movies. Once again, this book is japanese.

Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty “The Making” Book - This book (japanese) details the steps taken in designing Metal Gear Solid 2. The detail they explored in making this game boggles the mind. For example… did you know that in MGS2, if you knock over the bucket of ice cubes at the bar on the tanker at the beginning of the game, the ice cubes will start to melt? Even more… the ice cubes that are closer together will melt slower than those on their own…

Metal Gear Solid 3 Hideo Kojima Private Disc - This is a sample disc for Metal Gear Solid 3 that was released, I believe, with a magazine.

Metal Gear Saga Vol 1 (Sealed) - This DVD documentary goes through the Metal Gear series with interviews and clips from the game. This copy is sealed!

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker Game (Signed) - Peace Walker is the most recent title in the Metal Gear series. This copy has been signed by both Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa (the concept artist of the Metal Gear series).

250GB PS3 Slim (Signed) - This PS3 slim has been signed by Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa. There’s even a quick drawing by Shinkawa on the top left!

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker PSP Bundle (Signed) - Hideo Kojima signed many of these in New York a while ago. They may be a bit common on eBay these days, but they wont be for long!
