Good morning VGA readers. It’s getting quite cold where I live so most of my leisure time is spent on the internet looking for auctions or playing video games of course. Gears of War 3 has the new map pack downloaded via xbox marketplace. Are the maps good? Not bad… I would have liked to see more of the original maps being reintroduced like Escalation or Roof Tops. But still can’t complain new multiplayer maps are always good.

The first auction is for a rare and complete 1970 Japanese Nintendo game titled “Challenge Ball”. “The game is in excellent, unused condition. Long before Nintendo developed video games, the company’s focus was playing cards. Many years later, it expanded into toys and such. This particular game is one of the earliest Nintendo games made”. The second auction is for the Resident Evil Raccoon City Police Department from 1999. It was made by Phantom Tokyo and  purchased at Capcom’s booth at the 1999 Tokyo Game Show. The detailing on this is absolutely incredible. I have seen this in person several times. It’s a nice jacket and high in quality. For the price I think it’s a fair deal.

- Final Fantasy XIII Autographed Signed Art Cards – This listing is for an ultra rare set of exclusive art prints signed by producer Yoshinori Kitase and Art Director Isamu Kamikokuryo at the official Square-Enix HMV launch at Oxford Street in London.

- Final Fantasy XII Autographed Bundle – Same as above but different auction.

- SNES Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals Complete – Game comes complete with map, box and booklet. No reserve and it’s starting low.

- Biohazard Stamp Collection 2006 – Released in the Japan Post offices in 2006 as a limited run, were sold out immediately. Why don’t they release stamps like that here in N.A? Auction is at $250.

- Dragon Quest Smile Slime Mimic Plush Doll 2004 – This was part a prize in the arcade machines in Japan. I don’t know which game but that is how you won it. Looks to be in great shape, but no tag.

- Donkey Kong Country Official Poster – A very nice official Donkey Kong Poster for the SNES. Looks to be in mint condition. I don’t see this often and it’s at $224 or best offer.

- Lucasfilm LucasArts Loom Limited Edition Soundtrack Signed – Signed by Brian Moriarty, you won’t find a classic PC game signed by the creator of the game.

- Nes Original Nintendo Entertainment System Sign Plate - This is a really nice original Nintendo Plated Sign. These are usually huge but this specific one is made small. Not a bad piece to have in the game room.

- StarFox Competition Cart - It’s currently at $350 with no bids but I am going to place a bet that someone will eventaully bid. Although it is Christmas time it might play a role in it’s 0 bid value.

- Mike Tyson NES Punch Out Trophy Figure - Really nice collectible to have. I enjoy seeing these trophys as they capture a true part of gaming histroy in figure form. Punch Out is a classic title that will always be remembered and it’s so cool how they made figures back in the day.

- Panzer Dragoon Saga Sealed - This is rated an 85 from Video Game Authority. It has a few rips in the plastic but overall a great conditioned sealed game.

 

Good morning VGA readers. I’ve got cool posts for you on this Sunday morning. It’s getting colder where I live so that means more time indoors doing searches . This is the time of year where you’ll see more and more interesting auctions at a great price. Usually it’s between November to January you’ll see great deals so keep that in mind.

Video Game Auctions:

- Call of Duty 2 – Xbox 360 Signed Jewel Case - This was won from the official xbox magazine contest in 2005 to a handful of individuals. Not many of these surface on eBay so it’s a good chance to nab it.

- Zelda Symphony Exclusive 25th Anniversary Limited Program - There’s a whole bunch of goodies from this lot. The seller says the cd was part of it, but wasn’t it just for the release on the 3ds? 

- Call Of Duty: MW3 Autographed Poster - This was signed at the midnight release of Modern Warfare 3 by the developers and artists.

- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Autographed Sleve - A tad expensive I think. These were selling between $50-$120 a few weeks ago upon release. A nice piece to have coming from a Modern Warfare fan but it’s just too much.

- Signed Master Chief Concept Art – This is the concept art of Master chief signed by the artist himself, Marcus Letho who shortly left Bungie after signing this! Only 250 copies of the concept art were made, and they were available for 1 day only. Each print was personally signed by Marcus himself before he left Bungie.

- Nintendo World Championships Trophy - This was the finalist trophy from Atlanta for the 11 & under category. I’m surprised is going on regular auction with no reserve. This is a golden chance to own a piece of the historic Nintendo World Championships.

- Radiant Silvergun – Game is $120 and it comes complete. Great shooter, worth getting but it’s for the Japanese Sega Saturn, they never released it here in North America.

- 1 Chip MSX – 1983 for retro computers, this is a Japanese MSX chip, not compatible with North American or European machines.

It’s weird, why would they put him back on a game box if he was taken off for “personal reasons”?? Strange…

Good morning VGA readers we have some diverse auctions up today. I want to show some cool Metal Gear Autographs but I decided to leave them out as they’re becoming quite frequent. So with that said I’ll begin to discuss the auctions at hand.

First auction is for Hagane The Final Conflict Sealed. This is a obscure SNES title for the very interesting fact that it was only available at Blockbuster stores. Made in 1994 by Hudson soft this side scroller is fun, exciting and can be played over and over again. There is not a sealed copy on eBay other than the one listed. Definitely going to sell high.  

The second auction is for a Mass Effect 3 Comic Con Promo Achievement Pin. This is currently the only one on eBay. We shall see if others show up eventually. I have no way of verifying that this is a legit piece of merchandise, however a simple google search doesn’t reveal any information. Could this be the only one? I very much doubt it. So for those who are interested either make an offer or wait to see if others show up. If it was a promotional item surely others will follow.

- Wrecking Crew Nes Sealed - It’s Wrecking crew sealed! Very nice copy, wish they had a poster of this as I’d so buy it.

- Biohazard 5th Anniversary Case - This case is already at $400 beans. It’s complete with metal pen, games, and everything else.

- Mystique Beat’Em & Eat’em Atari 2600 Sealed - I know Akira loves this game for some strange reason. It’s sealed a sought after for Atari collectors.

- Keio: Flying Squadron - What a great game for the Sega CD. A hit in Japan this game deserves more exposure for fun factor.

- Final Fantasy Soundtrack Bundle – Nice FF ost bundle from 4 all the way to 9. They’re all, according to the seller, original which would mean they’re made by Digicube/Squaresoft.

Zelda Collectibles:

-Four Factory Sealed Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - Four copies of Zelda II sealed. Really nice, wonder if each one is in good condition? It’s currently on auction and very low!

- Legend of Zelda Plate 1988 - At $40 bucks it’s a fair price, but then again they sell for as low as $30.

- Link Bobble Head - Sweet my chance to finally bid on this. It’s on auction and at $32 bucks only!

- Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword 3 Pin set - Cool piece of merchandise from Comic Con 2011, but the question of it being official or not is up in the air. Do your research before bidding on these.

- Toys R us Majora’s Mask Pin - Nice detailed pin worn by Toys R us employees during the launch.

- Majora’s Mask Store Pin - Pin given out to stores as promotion.

- Legend of Zelda Pin Set - Typical pin set still worth the $1 that it’s currently at on auction.

This is a VGA exclusive Top 10 Final Fantasy Collectibles list. This list is unbiased as well it takes items featured on eBay and Yahoo Japan into account for it’s rarity and price. Opinions may vary but this is arguably the most accurate, up to date list on the net. This list comprises of all Final Fantasy games and officially licensed products only. Scarcity and demand are used as tools to gauge the ranking of the item itself. I have extensive knowledge in this field which is the reason I am writing this.

This isn’t about the history of Final Fantasy as a series or “quirks” and “facts”. It’s collectibles only. Some items are hard to gauge, even though they’ve hardly seen the light of eBay or other auction sites. I do however admit I won’t be touching on items made by Square-Enix but rather before in the Sqauresoft days. This list will be updated, altered, changed as time goes on but as we have it collectibles by Squaresoft capture Final Fantasy at it’s best. Why at it’s best? Because of the people working on those games. They’re not the same as now. The stories, the characters, everything has changed, even style. As well the reviews on Final Fantasy games after “X” have not been too friendly. This goes without saying that they’re good games in itself, they do not however compare to the Final Fantasy games in the days of Squaresoft. If you disagree post your thoughts in the comment section.

So without further a due I present the Top 10 Final Fantasy Collectibles:

10: Final Fantasy Sealed Games

Approximated Price: $500-$2000

There are collector’s who will agree and disagree about having a “sealed” game considered rare. There are several reason’s for this as there isn’t a specific number put on production. No one knows for sure how many sealed games remain for a specific Final Fantasy game. However this doesn’t take away the fact that it’s rare to have one sealed. Having a game graded by VGA(Video Game Authority) above 80 is considered a good grade on the condition. The rarest of the sealed Final Fantasy games are in the earlier series like Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III, and Final Fantasy VII. Final Fantasy X is also considered rare. The prices vary amongst these titles.  Final Fantasy II has been the rarest of these titles and certainly doesn’t appear on eBay often. Final Fantasy III follows and Final Fantasy VII is third. For Final Fantasy VII original “Black” label there are a few versions which determine it’s rarity. There’s a regular factory seal without y-fold which is considered less rare of the two. The rarer version is the Y-fold with a misprint on the back of the game. In the game’s description there is a letter “i” which is raised in “masterpiece”. For Final Fantasy X the rare version is the black label by Squaresoft. The red bordered version is the greatest hits and is considered common even if sealed.

9: Final Fantasy VII Zippos

Approximate price: $70-$150 each

There are 10 Final Fantasy VII zippos in this set. Each originally sold for 10,000 YEN or $110. They usually don’t pop up on eBay as auctions rather as ”Buy it now” to target the special collector. I have seen the complete set on eBay a few times and it was selling for a very high price ($2000+). Regardless of which Final Fantasy game you prefer it is a nice looking set of all the important characters in the game which are:

• Cloud
• Tifa
• Aerith
• Sephiroth
• Cait Sith
• Barret
• Cid
• Yuffie
• Vincent
• Red XIII

It comes as 9th on the list because it is rare but not in demand by Final Fantasy collectors. Those who favor Final Fantasy VII only will tend to want to collect these. Having a whole set is nice depending if you’re into zippos. These were originally obtainable through a magazine order like the Final Fantasy VII V-Jump that feature these zippos in the merchandise section. These were also sold in specialty stores in Japan.

8: Final Fantasy Cold Cast collection scenes

Approximate price: $300-500 each

These Final Fantasy cold casts were released in 1999 by Squaresoft, and limited to 3000 pieces each. Originally sold for $50 now have increased in price tremendously. The statue captures a scene from the Final Fantasy game. As an example the Final Fantasy VI statue depicts the Opera Scene. All statues come with a serial card numbered out of 3000 along with a card holder. All are officially licensed by Squaresoft. There are 5 statues in total:

• Final Fantasy IV “Mt.Ordeals”
• Final Fantasy V “Butz and Boko”
• Final Fantasy VI “Opera House”
• Final Fantasy VII “Forgotten City”
• Final Fantasy VIII “Dance Scene”

7: Final Fantasy Chrome Figures

Approximate price: $50-150 each

These tiny chrome figures were released at the same time as the cold cast statues. There are a total of 28 characters in the collection all from Final Fantasy IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, and IX. The set looks extremely nice and includes an official Final Fantasy wooden box for display. The reason this is listed ahead of the cold cast statues is because they are harder to make as a full set then the Cold Casts. Statues are limited to 3000 and all come with box and inserts. The statues are:

6: Final Fantasy VI and VII Keychain Prototype

Approximate Price: $200-$400

These also go by the name of Premium Bronze figure because it gives off a Bronze look up close. These are prototypes of the keychains made by Bandai in 1994 for Final Fantasy VI and in 1997 for Final Fantasy VII. The keychains were available in dispensers in Japan. The way to get the prototype was to mail in your insert that came with the keychain. If you were one of 500 lucky winners you received a prototype keychain in the mail with the box. For Final Fantasy VI there were two sets. One with Shadow, Locke, and Terra. The other with Edgar, Sabin and Cyan. The figures are of a rubber material on a plastic base. For the Final Fantasy VII keychain prototype it is rubber material as well, obtained in the same way and only came in one set which has Aerith, Cloud and Chocobo. A recent one on eBay without a box sold for $200.

5: Final Fantasy VII Cloud vs Sephiroth Cold Cast by Kotobukiya

Approximate price: $1000-$2500

This cold cast statue is the most desirable of the cold casts as it was limited to 1000 pieces world wide (more desirable then the original 1997 Highwind). As well it’s extremely hard to find and when you do find one it sells for above the $1000 mark. The statue depicts the final battle scene between Cloud and Sephiroth. The statue is extremely delicate. The hairs on Sephiroth can break with just a blow. Hard core Final Fantasy collector’s are sure to own one of these. Comes with box and pieces are assembled.

4: Final Fantasy VII Cardass Gold Cards

Approximate price: $200-400 each

The cardass gold cards are limited to 500 world wide an there is a total of 4 cards. Don’t make the mistake to think these are the common and numbered foil cards. The gold cards are not serial numbered and clearly state on the back of the card that they are a “prize”. They were a campaign prize in 1997 and was only obtainable through a draw which if you were lucky you were mailed a card with a letter. A complete set is extremely hard to find and goes for about $1000.

3: Final Fantasy Nintendo Power Orb

Approximate price: $500-????

The Final Fantasy Orb was limited to 50 pieces world wide. It is made of solid lead crystal with an etch of a Final Fantasy shield with a crossed axe and sword above it. The orb is signed by the artist “Kusak”. This was a prize out of Nintendo Power 1990 Sep/Oct issue 16. The orb comes with a box and certificate. Nintendo Power had a real Final Fantasy treasure Quest/Contest in it’s Maniac Mansion cover issue and the grand prize was a Final Fantasy orb. The most recent Orb on eBay is being sold at $150,000 which was dropped from $250,000. It’s definitely hard to put a price tag on this but it can start as low as $500 and can possibly go in the price range of the Nintendo World Championship gold cart depending on the collector.

2: Final Fantasy Yoshitaka Amano Litho/Serigraph Art

Approximate price: $3000-10000

Yoshitaka Amano is the artist for the Final Fantasy games. His Final Fantasy Art work has been Lithograph/Serigraph printed by Art Vivant, a professional art printing company in Japan who specializes in Lithographs and Serigraphs for artists. Most of the Final Fantasy art work done by him has been put into Lithograph and Serigraph production. I have seen his reproduced art as early as the first Final Fantasy game up until final fantasy XI. Some are harder to find then others. The more popular ones tend to sell for a higher price. Indeed any serious Final Fantasy fan definitely has one of his Lithographs or Serigraphs in his/her house on display. I’ve only seen a handful on eBay and when I do see them they are priced really high. The art work is always signed by Amano.

1: Final Fantasy VII Aeris’s Music Box

Approximate price: $2000-$3500

It is no surprise that the Aeris’s Music Box is at number one. It is desired by all Final Fantasy fans. It’s extremely rare and almost never pops up on eBay. When it does it’s guaranteed to pass the $2000 mark. Research alone on this music box can give you a headache as I’ve read several articles, forum posts, and videos about the quantity of these boxes. All arrows point to only 100 in the world. The music box plays the Aeris theme from Final Fantasy VII (Aeris is Aerith in North America). It’s a 50 note mechanical movement. You can speak to any Final Fantasy fan and know how rare and desired it is. For the Final Fantasy fans that don’t know about it soon become obsessed with it once they find out what it is and how beautiful it sounds. The price climbing and it’s only getting rarer.

This ends the top 10 Final Fantasy collectibles list. I am sure there are some of you who might disagree and that’s perfectly fine, but according to the market these are the hottest and most expensive collectibles in demand. I wanted to add an honorable mentions list but there are too many collectibles, enough to make a top 30 list.

Seller Mr.Tomberry has some unique Final Fantasy items up for auctions as well as Biohazard guns which  are illegal to import to certain countries so check out the laws in your country about importing air soft guns.

But to start, the first auction is a Final Fantasy VII Puzzle Chocobo Clock Sealed! It’s basically a puzzle you assemble then stick into the clock. All pieces are included, you just have to put them together, even the ticker! Once it’s finished it looks really nice as the cover of the box shows. These are pretty rare and to find them new is even rarer. It’s starting at 99 Euro, so probably around $140 US and that’s still pretty decent considering a seller in the states had it at $399.

Next auction is a Final Fantasy VI Terra on a Magitek figure. It’s part of the creatures cold cast statue Vol.1. She’s rare, even on YAJ she goes for about $80+. Tomberry currently has her at $65. Does she come with the box? I don’t know, but all I know is it’s a nice looking figure. Looks like it can break easy if dropped y accident. I’m looking to get this for my collection, but I’m going to wait for the price to drop…. He also has this complete Final Fantasy VI 1994 Bandai card set. I think it comes with the special prism cards…

This last auction looks crazy. It’s for Final Fantasy VII Figures??? I don’t know because the seller is mysterious with the items that are for sale but if it’s for everything on that shelf it’s pretty insane. He’s got a Cloud vs Sephiroth, Cloud on Daytona, Coca Cola figure set, Cold Cast Characters etc… a lot of goodies for the price. He says to email him for the list so why not ask?

This next seller from France has the chromes collection all divided up for sale. Expensive but still cool to see someone else out there has an entire collection. It comprises of 23 chromes from Final Fantasy IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, and IX. Here is the Final Fantasy VI chrome set of 6, and the other interesting one is the Final Fantasy VII set.

Lastly he has a Biohazard/Resident Evil Ashford Lugger Air Soft gun set. It doesn’t appear to be complete but does appear to be in mint condition. It’s missing the little pebble bullets that comes with the guns. These can be illegal to import in some countries so please check with you countries laws before bidding. Last thing you want to do is import an item that you paid $200 in total for and it then gets taken away by customs.

Good evening VGA readers. Today I’m going to post about my Super Mario dream room. What would I have in it? What would it look like? Well I can go all crazy and list everything ever made! But without getting greedy I will be realistic and list and few items I think worthy of being in my Super Mario dream room.

The first item that tops the list is the SNES Super Nintendo 1992 Campus Challenge NWC. Why you ask? Because it was featured in the Super Mario Club 1992 Nintendo Championship. It is only one of the rarest Nintendo items to get. In 1992 Nintendo created another nationwide contest after the success of the 1990 Nintendo World Championships (NWC) and the 1991 Nintendo Campus Challenge (NCC).  This was the first official competition cart made for the Super Nintendo.  The event traveled to around 35 different college campuses where thousands of students battled for a chance to compete for the next Nintendo World Championships title.  Nintendo used the same format for this competition as the 1991 NCC.  Even the same trailers from the 1991 NCC were used for this event. It would be hooked up to my 42 inch LCD screen so as soon as you walked it would be the first thing you’d see.

When I’d get tired of trying to beat the world record score of 100,000 points for I’d take a break and play any of the Super mario SNES games on my Super Nintendo SNES Store Kiosk Display which would be lighting up the whole room from the corner of my room. This one is absolutely mint and everything works so of course I’d want this one, not to mention how hard it is to find complete with stand!

It would get hot in my room from all the machines turned on and my intensity as a gamer that I would need a fan to keep the room cooled. What better fan then the Super Mario Bros. Fan from 1989?!? These almost never pop up on eBay let alone brand new. With super cool Mario designs I’m sure to be left feeling cool.

Christmas will be coming up so I’m going to need some decorations. Luckily for me I found this 1989 Super Mario Christmas Decorations still in it’s original packaging. I’ll hang this up all over my room to keep the Christmas spirit alive. Not only that but the price is amazingly cheap! So I will be sure not to miss out on this deal.

Now I was thinking, for the christmas tree. Maybe I can use this Official Super Mario Statue from Japan that was used for display in it’s stores… Why not? It’s gold and the perfect size to replace the Star on top of the tree. The question is will the seller be willing to drop the price it is currently at which is $300?
