Here’s a rare auction that I just found. Seller tara200 has up on auction a Sega MegaDrive Castlevania Bloodlines Prototype . I don’t know how many of you played Bloodlines since I found it to be a common theme every time I mention this game to another fellow gamer. I always get the same response which is “no” they have not played it. It’s surprising since this was an a great game at the time, and on top of things it was competing against it’s sister game “Castlevania IV” for the SNES.
Anyways, the seller says that this game is genuine and that she received it while working for a video game magazine. This is what the seller says: “THIS IS A SEGA MEGADRIVE CASTLEVANIA BLOODLINES PROTOTYPE. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL AND NOT A HOAX. I GOT THIS WHEN I WAS WORKING FOR A VIDEO GAMES MAGAZINE. GAME CONTAINS UNSEEN LEVELS – BOSSES AND SPRITES NEVER USED IN ANY OF THE KONAMI CASTLEVANIA GAMES. EXTREMELY RARE – PLEASE EMAIL ME FOR FULL INFORMATION AND SCANS INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS ARE WELCOME. HAPPY BIDDING! THIS VERSION OF THE GAME HAS VERY DIFFERENT LEVELS TO THE FINISHED VERSION, IT HAS ALSO NEVER BEEN RELEASED ON EMULATION SOME OF THE LEVELS REMOVED WERE SET IN NAZI OCCUPIED GERMANY (A PROGRAMMERS JOKE) AND OBVIOUSLY HAD TO BE CUT FOR THE FINAL VERSION. IT HAS BEEN SOMETIME SINCE I ORIGINALLY LISTED IT BUT IF YOU GOOGLE THIS YOU WILL FIND LOTS MORE INFORMATION”.
The asking price is $3,193.60 and currently has zero bidders. It would definitely help the sellers cause if she could open the cart to see whats written inside, but maybe the sticker prevented her from doing that. It’s a rare auction to see, especially for a game of this stature. Just to note, the game was released in North America on March 17, 1994, and the date on the prototype is July 10, 1993.
