Here is an interesting auction for you old school gamers. We haven’t posted too many arcades or pinballs auctions on VGA, but I think we should start posting more, or at least only showing the rarest arcades and pinballs for auctions.
The seller of this fully restored Donkey Kong Arcade tells the whole story nicely in the description so I don’t need to paraphrase at all.
“On March 19th and 20th, history was made at Richie Knucklez’ Arcade Games in Flemington New Jersey. Eleven of the best Donkey Kong Players were all on hand for the first ever “Kong Off”.
Up for Auction is the Deluxe “Kong Off” Package;
- #3 of 12 of the fully restored Donkey Kong Machines used in the actual Kompetetion. This game was the first to reach kill screen (played by Eric Howard).
- An official Kong Off T-Shirt
- Your choice of the original DK marquee or the custom made “The Kong Off” marquee signed by Billy Mitchell, Steve Weibe, Hank Chien and many, if not all of the amazing contestants.
- A bottle of “The Kong Off” Rickey’s Hot Sauce
At Richie Knucklez’ Arcade Games we boast the best in arcade restorations. All our paint jobs are done by Maaco. The game is gone over inside and out. New true flat Nintendo T Molding. A freshly recapped Sanyo EZV monitor. Brand new Control Panel overlay and sideart. A sanded and painted coin door. etc.. feel free to visit any of our many dot coms, our Face Book and or You Tube pages. thekingsofcapitalism / richieknucklez / thekongoff / thetronoff etc.. This is one of the few machines we will be auctioning due to many were sold at a premium to avoid going to auction. This is a true collector’s item. Feel free to email me anytime at richie at richieknucklez dotcom . Every machine that was used in the competition is a top shelf restoration and the only difference between 1-12 is the player that played them. The picture of the machine used in the main picture is of the actual machine being sold (when it was still in my kitchen) remember to provide whether or not you want the unsigned original DK marquee or the repro custom “Kong Off’ marquee signed by the players. It is currently Wednesday evening, 3 days after the “Kong Off” officially ended. By now, a simple web search should yield tons of pics and videos of this epic event. All of the popular “Shock Jocks” on Sirius/XM have been talking about the event and who knows, you may also be featured on a future episode of our (currently in production) reality TV show “Richie Knucklez’ Arcade Culture” featuring your host, the charismatic Richie Knucklez, The video game player of the century, Billy Mitchell as well as almost all of the stars of Chasing Ghosts, High Score and of course The King Of Kong.”

Whats interesting to note is that the seller is holding onto Hanks, Steve’s, and Billy’s machine (I’d do the same!). He says this in his response to a question:
Q: Hi. Great item to say the least. I am a big fan of King of Kong. So, your listing stated that a few machines will be sold? I presume that you will be selling a few more on Ebay after this listing has ended? I am definitely interested in purchasing one, so I will keep an eye out on this one as well as others you may have for sale. Thanks.
A: I sold the last of the “Kong Off” edition Donkey Kong machines this morning. I received many requests to sell them outright at a premium price to avoid them going to auction. I am holding onto Hank Chien’s, Steve Weibe’s and Billy Mitchell’s. Who knows, maybe i will donate them to certain video game museums, (hall of fames etc..)
