Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Passes Away – July.11th, 2015

Nintendo Co. President Satoru Iwata speaks during a press conference in Tokyo Friday, Jan. 27, 2012. Nintendo, a Japanese video game machine maker, sank to losses for the April-December period, battered by a price cut for its 3DS handheld, a strong yen that erodes overseas earnings and competition from mobile devices such as the iPhone that offer games-on-the-go. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has passed away last Saturday¬†at a very young age of 55. The cause of death was due to a bile duct tumor. This isn’t something new in the life of Satoru as those who have been following his journey since last year will remember when he had that big surgery to remove a growth that’s been building up. Many remember this because Satoru had to skip E3 last year to recover from the surgery. Nintendo isn’t talking about a successor for the time being but there had been hints that the company would be taken on by the likes of Genyo Takeda and Shigeru Miyamoto.

We solute Mr.Iwata for what he brought to the company. He was literally the face of Nintendo, always so genuinely friendly when presenting new products. Satoru always believed in Nintendo despite Nintendo’s margins decreasing over the years. Only in the last few months has Satoru opened the doors to mobile gaming which will be huge, and now we’ll never know what else he wanted to bring to the tables…
