Consoles Everything PC Games

The Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I, Pocket, Games, and Modem I

Back in 1979 the Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I was released to the world. TRS stands for Tandy Radio Shack but most people just call it the Tandy Model I. This early age home computer saw many add-ons, model versions, and software. It’s ultra retro gaming for sure and I’m sure a few people reading his had one of these. The first version of the computer I want to mention is the TRS-80 Pocket Computer PC-2.

TRS-80 Pocket Computer

Radio Shack TRS-80 Pocket Computer PC-2 – This version released in 1982 has a built-in cassette interface. It’s really the best choice if you want to use it for gaming. This on which is up on eBay is in good shape by appearance, but there are repairs needed to get it back to %100 functional. You can find other Pocket Computers on eBay that work better, but this is the only one that includes the classy leather case!

Leather Case

If you were walking down the street with this bag, it would be clearly vintage baggage but nobody would guess that you have a portable computer from 1982 inside lol.

The original version of this computer was the Model I. It was a small desktop computer and there’s a fully functional one up on eBay right now.

Tandy TRS-80 Model I

Tandy Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I – The auction includes various manuals and games such as Blackjack and Backgammon. The price is high but I actually find it acceptable. If you are set on finding a clean and fully functional TRS-80, you will spend quite some time finding one and even more so if you want the Model I. This auction doesn’t include the cassette recorder however and you’re going to need it for most games. I found one of them though…

TRS-80 Cassette recorder CCR-82 – These are unusually hard to find and this one could use some repairs to work more predictably. The price is decent.

Haunted House – Here’s an interesting looking game. The manual is included.

In the Hall of the Mountain King – Another game but I’m not sure if it’s the same as the Atari 2600 game.

Galactic Empire – The title of this game suggests a series. It even comes with a map of the central galactic system… hmm..

Radio Shack 26-1172 TRS-80 Modem I – Can you believe the TRS-80 had a modem? I bet you could do some interesting things with this if you put your mind to it.
