Video Game Collectibles that are signed is something gamers can truly appreciate. But some of you might not understand whats the point of getting your games, consoles, or even collectibles signed.
Well, for me personally, it is the connection that I draw to the game. I feel this sort of “completeness” by getting my favorite game/collectible signed by the creator. For example look at the pic above of one of the auctions I’m showcasing today. Miyamoto’s autograph is at the top of my list and would love to have it. Getting a signature is my way of saying I had the connection with the creator, composer, artist, etc…, and a signing always increases the value for that particular item. I guess getting a signature is your chance to own a piece of video game history…..
However, one might ask “Is the signature authentic??”. Now let me give you some advice for buying items that are self-proclaimed authentic signatures. You can opt with a third party company such as PSA/DNA who can detect if the signature is truly authentic. However, these third party companies are not always precise, and PSA/DNA deal more with sports memorabilia than video game collectibles so what are the chances they will know what a real or fake Miyamoto signature looks like?
My Recommendation is to “research” the signature you are looking for(compare it to other signatures on the net), research the company you are buying from, and investigate the seller that you trust is selling you something authentic. If it is from eBay, look in the sellers feedback because this is the best way to tell if they are selling you a fake signature. If in doing this you decide to pay PSA/DNA for their opinion, keep in mind that is what you are getting; an opinion in which they state that they “cannot guarantee you 100% accuracy on their readings”. I would obviously suggest getting signatures in person since this solidifies it’s authenticity but if you live in tin-buck-two like me you need to buy from the net 🙂
This article is your comprehensive guide to detecting fake autographs on eBay. I recommend it to anyone who likes collecting Video Game Signatures.
Now with all the politics out of the way, lets get to the GOODIES! But before I show all the auctions, I want to showcase this auction which is a copy of Super Mario Galaxy Signed by Charles Martinet; voice of Mario since 1995!
Remember the tips I was giving you above? Keeping that in mind this auction also has the picture of Charles Martinet signing the Super Mario Galaxy 2 games! The seller put a reserve on this auction and it hasn’t been met just yet. 5 hours left!!
